Coast Guard Headquarters issues new Policy Letter on Engineer Licensing Requirements.

The release of new guidance was announced via the Federal Register Dated March 20, 2015. The new changes are outlined in Change 1 to HQ Pollcy Letter 11-11.

This policy letter further extends the date to implement enforcement of the requirements for appropriately -endorsed engineering officers on uninspected commercial fishing vessels until October 15, 2015. This policy letter goes on to allow OCMIs to defer on a case-by-case basis, strict enforcement of the regulations beyond Cotober 15, 2015.
